2024 OHIO GAMMA PHILANTHROPY KICKOFF
This past week, the brothers of Ohio Gamma began their philanthropic work on campus! The chapter participated in two different events to benefit the Ohio State and Columbus community. Both of the events that our brothers participated will help make the Columbus community a better place for undergraduate students as well as the homeless population in Columbus. One of the chapter’s major goals is to give back to the Columbus community through philanthropic work and volunteering to help the less fortunate in the local area. Led by our Vice President of Campus Engagement, sophomore Aidan Rohrer, the chapter was able to give back to the community in numerous ways.
BUCKEYE LOVE CAMPAIGN X SIGMA PHI EPSILON
The brothers of Ohio Gamma kicked off the week by spear-heading the annual Ohio State Buckeye-Love Campaign! The Buckeye-Love Campaign is an annual tradition at Ohio State that focuses on bettering the mental health of students across all academic campuses. Working closely with the Ohio State University Office of Student Life and their Assistant Vice President, Tracy Stuck, the brothers placed signs across all academic campuses spreading positive messages and words of encouragement to help keep student morale high in the colder winter months. The week continued with the Office of Student Life handing out free gift bags and hats to students all over campus, ultimately hoping to create a sense of hope and encouragement through the winter months on campus.
MAKING BLANKETS FOR THE HOMELESS IN COLUMBUS
Our brothers continued their initial week of service by working with the sisters of Phi Sigma Rho to make warm blankets for the homeless population in Columbus. Both the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon and the sisters of Phi Sigma Rho worked diligently to make over 20 blankets to donate to local homeless shelters around the city of Columbus, in hopes to keep the homeless population and those in need around Columbus warm this winter. The brothers of Ohio Gamma are never fully satisfied with their work, as there are always more ways to give back to the Columbus community. However, thanks to our Vice President of Campus Engagement, Aidan Rohrer, as well as the hard work of all of our undergraduate brothers, the kickoff to SigEp’s 2024 philanthropy work was a success, and we hope to see more substantial success throughout the semester.
